At one of our meet & greets you guys were talking about a clunk from the driveshaft slip yoke. I think I have felt it a few times. What was the fix for that? Was there a TSB?

The fix is a new drive shaft. The TSB is: TSB 0046-12
Sometimes they can repack the shaft with grease but it is just a temporary fix. Look it up on the FJCrusierForum.com and you will find out as much as you want to know. The shaft is about a $900 part.

Thanks. I'll have to see if a new driveshaft is in my future. I still have drivetrain warranty, so they shouldn't fight it too much.
Oh, and Happy Birthday!

If you have the warranty take it in right away and they will take care of it. They did for me with no problems.

Took it in yesterday for the driveshaft. Predictably, the weasels at Luther didn't believe me and refused to replace the driveshaft. They heard a clunk but felt it was coming from the left rear, tightened some bolts and stuff and that was it.
They probably just greased the slip joint which would quiet it down for a while.
While I completely understand the impulse not to trust their customers judgment, in this case my symptoms matched the TSB description exactly, and the driveshaft replacement is covered by Toyota under the drivetrain warranty, WHY ARE THEY FIGHTING ME ON THIS? They could have swapped out the driveshaft in the time it took them to do their test drive.

Did you have them look up the tsb while you were standing there? That's what I did and they didn't fight me on it.

Yeah, I gave them a printout of the TSB when I checked in, and told them it describes my symptoms better than I could.
I sent them a grumpy email yesterday, and just got a call from them today. They have agreed to order and install a new driveshaft (I felt a clunk again yesterday). Sometimes the squeaky wheel...
I just want to get this driveshaft thing behind me so I don't have to worry about getting it done before the warranty runs out etc.

Got the new driveshaft today, huzzah!
Glad I did, the old one has been clunking more often lately...
